ZiPhone Unlocks iPhone 2.0

It would appear that Zibri has done it again and managed to get his iPhone unlocking and jailbreaking application working with the new firmware 2.0 that is due to be released on 11 July. The status report is located here: status.ziphone.org.

The video below shows just how easy it is to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone.

I'm very excited now, since jailbreaking will still be necessary in order to install many (most?) of the third-party applications that I currently use on my jailbroken iPhone (firmware 1.1.4). I have confidence that I'll be able to jailbreak on day one, and many of the app developers are working on firmware 2.0 versions of their apps, even if those apps won't make it into Apple's new AppStore.

It'll probably be hairy for a few weeks, with several of the hottest apps not available as stable releases, but I'm putting together my core list of "must have" apps now. I'll post it once it's finished and then track the release of the apps either on the AppStore or via "other" installation methods.
