iPhone App List - Firmware 1.1.4 to 2.0

This is my iPhone app list for firmware 1.1.4. Each app is tagged as either "must have", "nice to have", or "not needed" for the upgrade to firmware 2.0. This list will be updated throughout the months of June and July 2008. The apps are listed in no particular order.
Note: If "Will probably be available on AppStore" appears below in the comments for an app, this simply means that I believe Apple would allow the app to be posted to the AppStore if the developer wants it added. I have no idea if the developers of most of the apps below will even bother with the AppStore.

| iFlickr | Uploads photos taken on the iPhone to a Flickr account. | Nice to Have | Will probably be available on AppStore. Since photos can easily be emailed to a Flickr account, this app is not absolutely necessary. |

Since the 3G iPhone will have real GPS, and TomTom is planning on releasing a turn-by-turn app, this application will be out-dated and unncessary. Current iPhone users (non-3G) may still find it useful, however. |
| Twinkle | Twitter client. | Must Have | Will probably be available on AppStore. This is my favorite Twitter client. Allows pictures to be taken and attached to messages. |
| VNSea | VNC client based on Chicken of the VNC. Allows control of a desktop computer via the iPhone. | Must Have | Will probably be available on AppStore. Great app. |
| MobileTwitter | Twitter client. | Must Have | Will probably be available on AppStore. I coule replace this app with Twinkle if Twinkle allowed images from the photo album to be attached to messages. |
| Books | eBook reader. | Nice to Have | Might be available on AppStore (the app requires that users copy ebooks to the device' filesystem, and this might not be possible without jailbreaking). I use ruBooks (below) now, and I must have that app. |
| Lockbox | Securely stores passwords and account information. | Must Have | Will probably be available on AppStore. |
| MobileFinder | Allows browsing of the iPhone filesystem. Also allowes moving/deleting of files. | Must Have | Because it hacks the OS, Apple might not allow it on the AppStore. |
| MobilePreview | Preview app for photos stored on the iPhone (not in the photo album or synced). | Not Needed | Probably will not be available on the AppStore for the same reason that Books (above) will have issues opening books stored on the iPhone. I never use this app. |
| MobileTextEdit | Text editor. | Nice to Have | Might be available on the AppStore, but has the same requirements as the Books app (above), since it saves files to the iPhone's filesystem and opens them from there. I use MobileTextEditJ now, but it will have the same requirements. |

| weDict | Dictionary app that supports StarDict dictionaries. | Must Have | Will probably be available on AppStore. Running a search across multiple dictionary files (and Wikipedia) at the same time is still faster than using the Web at 3G speeds. |
| Kate | Customization app. | Must Have | Hacks the OS, so probably won't be allowed on the AppStore. Allows theming, which is great. Commercial software. I will jailbreak if only for this one app. |

| Flashlight | Simple app that just turns the screen on...really bright. Good for navigating through a dark room at night before bed. | Nice to Have | Will probably be available on AppStore. |
| LEDBanner | Displays a scrolling message on the screen. | Nice to Have | Will probably be available on AppStore. I don't really need this app. I haven't found a real use for it yet. |
| IM Chat 1.1.3 Fix | Patch for Apollo (above). | Not Needed | I probably won't need this, since there will be working chat clients available that won't need to hack the iPhone to work. If that's not the case, this is a must have app. |
| 1.1.3/4 Safari Patch | Allows Safari to open documents stored in the iPhone filesystem. | Must Have | Will definitely not be allowed on the AppStore. Hacks Safari. Used by the Docs app (below). Unless something comes out from Apple or another developer that allows browsing of documents stored in the filesystem (which would require Apple to allow actually storing documents in the filesystem), Docs will still be needed, and this hack will be required. |

| SysInfo | System monitor application. Allows the user to view current processes running on the iPhone. | Nice to Have | Might be available on the AppStore, but I doubt it, since it allows the user to "kill" running processes. |
| Respring | Restarts the Springboard | Must Have | Will probably not be allowed on the AppStore. When all else fails, kill the Springboard. This app has saved me from wiping my iPhone and starting over several times. I have to have it. |
| Baseband Info | Tells you various things about the iPhone. I used it to determine the bootloader version of mine. | Not Needed | Might be allowed on the AppStore. |
| MobileCast | Allows podcasts to be downloaded and streamed to the iPhone and iPod Touch without syncing to iTunes. | Nice to Have | Will probably be available on the AppStore. |
| AgileMessenger | ICQ, MSN, AOL, Yahoo!, Jabber and GoogleTalk chat client. | Must Have | Will probably be available on the AppStore. I used to use this when I owned my Cingular 8125 (Windows Mobile) and I loved it. |
