Obama’s Remarks at NH Healthcare Town Hall

President Obama was in Portsmouth, NH this afternoon to talk about his proposed healthcare plan (full video). I was happy to see him take an offensive position and defend his proposal. I was also happy to hear that the so-called “fight” with protesters for which he was “bracing” (if you believe the cable news talking heads) never happened. He faced no outbursts. He ask those who were skeptical to come forward and ask questions, but none did.

Why? Because the protesters at the various town hall meetings aren’t there to talk. They are there to interrupt others and stop them from learning. They are the opposite of free expression, despite their best efforts to paint themselves as a group of concerned citizens only showing up at the town hall meetings to discuss their concerns. In fact, they are in total opposition to the free exchange of ideas. They seek only to shut down the debate and stop any attempt to reform healthcare. They don’t have questions to ask, skeptical or otherwise, because they aren’t interested in learning the truth about the President’s proposal. And if you doubt that any of this is true, read about the private conference call where a group of so-called conservative organizers outlined their goals.
